Suspected Cultists Kill 6 In Rivers

Suspected cultists on Sunday killed no fewer than six people at Ibaa community in Emohua local government area of Rivers State.
The Ibaa incident occurred barely 24 hours after eight persons were murdered by suspected cultists in Ozochi community in Ahoada east local government area of the state
Some gunmen suspected to be members of Greenlanders cult group unleashed mayhem on Ibaa community on Sunday morning killing six persons.
Among the persons killed were Mr Prince Nyenke, Mr Dirinna, Mr Kpomasiruchi, Mr ThankGod Obisike and two others.
It was gathered that the gunmen had invaded the community in reprisal against its rival cult group, the Icelanders.
A community source who preferred to remain anonymous said the gunmen laid siege on the community and operated freely without interruption from any quarters.
The source who was privy to the development, noted that the strange visitors moved from house to house in search of the members of the Icelanders.
According to the source, the Greenlanders had chased the Icelanders out of their camp in the community and taken over the place.
The mini-police post that situated in the community has been closed since the shootout.
Meanwhile, the caretaker committee chairman of Emohua local government area, Mr John Wokoma, who visited the affected people, described the situation as pathetic.
Addressing the displaced people of Ibaa community at Rumuji junction, Wokoma urged the sacked people to go back to the community.
The council boss stated that the council would provide adequate security for the people of the displaced community, vowing that he would do everything to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people of the area.
